Manila North Tollways Corporation (MNTC) officials led by president and CEO Rodrigo E. Franco (third from left) and Mabalacat City Councilor Gerald Aquino (third from right) discuss the progress of construction of the NLEX-SCTEX Integration Project at the construction site in Sta. Ines where a toll plaza is also being built (inset photo).
Under the integration plan, new toll plazas will be constructed while some toll plazas will be removed as part of the planned unified system. New toll plazas will rise at SCTEX Tarlac and Tipo, and at the existing entry and exit ramps of NLEX Dau and Sta. Ines. However, the NLEX Dau and SCTEX Mabalacat toll barriers will be removed.
Targeted to be completed before Holy Week 2016, the integration project means faster and more convenient travel making available to SCTEX the modern features of NLEX’s toll collection system- which includes dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) tags, and contactless and magnetic cards.
