NLEX mounts eco-camp for Tullahan kids

Date Posted : May 22, 2017

Sixty kids from Tullahan communities together with NLEX Corporation and DENR-EMB employees sport a thumbs up sign during the NLEX Tullahan Junior Patrol eco-camp, a one-day workshop meant at inspiring young people on environment conservation.

The NLEX Tullahan Junior Patrol is NLEX Corp.’s corporate social responsibility program aimed at educating and engaging the children of Barangay Talipapa in Quezon City, Barangay Ugong in Valenzuela City, and Barangay 164 in Caloocan City on the importance of protecting and preserving the environment, especially the Tullahan River. It is a spinoff of the company’s "Tullahan River: Cleaning it up, Keeping it Clean“ campaign which conducts regular cleanup drives in 1.5-kilometer-stretch of the Tullahan River running into the three Tullahan communities.

To increase children’s appreciation of ecological concepts, the participants were treated to a tour at the La Mesa Eco Park and were equipped with useful and practical information on climate change, water pollution, and disaster risk reduction.
