New NLEX exits to help ease Meycauayan traffic

Date Posted : June 30, 2017

Two additional exit ramps will make travel to Meycauayan City more convenient as the NLEX Corporation opens today, June 30, the new exit ramps at the northbound portion of Brgy. Libtong and the southbound portion of Brgy. Pandayan.

Early this year, the NLEX Corporation has started the construction of the P31.5M exit ramps as part its continuing enhancement program to deliver quality service to expressway users.

“The new exits hope to relieve rush hour traffic congestion at the Meycauayan Interchange,” said NLEX Corporation President Rodrigo E. Franco, pointing out that “more than improving traffic flow, these new exits also aim to make commercial activities in the City more efficient.”

Vehicular traffic on both the east and west directions of the Camalig-Iba-Malhacan roads in Meycauayan has dramatically increased as this Bulacan city, which is also known for its leather and jewelry businesses, has hosted a vast number of manufacturing and industrial compounds which contribute to significant truck traffic.

The NLEX Corporation has undertaken a traffic improvement program in Meycauayan which included the construction of additional exits, the signalization of the east roundabout, and the expansion of the southbound toll plaza to address traffic buildup at the interchange.

Based on the NLEX-commissioned traffic study, once these enhancements are implemented, the traffic congestion along Meycauayan Interchange will be generally reduced therefore translate to lesser delays and shorter travel times especially during peak periods.

The City Government of Meycauayan led by Mayor Henry R. Villarica, for its part, has been committed to support the NLEX Corporation’s traffic decongestion program for the City.

“A comprehensive traffic management plan has been made in coordination with the NLEX management for the long-term traffic solutions in our City,” Mayor Villarica said.

The City Government has augmented its traffic management measures by deploying more traffic enforcers that will manage the flow of vehicles and enhance pedestrian safety. It has also implemented traffic ordinances that avert illegal parking and improper loading and unloading of passengers.

“Be assured that we will continue to work closely with the NLEX Corporation to ensure fast and smooth traffic flow at the interchange,” added Mayor Villarica.

Aside from Meycauayan, the NLEX Corporation has also built a new exit at the southbound portion of Lingunan, Valenzuela City to address the surge in the number of motorists using the exit in Paso de Blas, Valenzuela City.
