The Metro Pacific Tollways Development Corporation (MPTDC), the toll road unit of the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), signs a joint venture agreement with the local government units of City of Cebu and Municipality Cordova to build the P27.9 billion Cebu-Cordova Bridge Project. The 8.25-kilometer bridge project, set to be completed by 2020, will connect Cebu City to Mactan Island via Cordova. MPTDC president Rodrigo E. Franco (seated, extreme right), a signatory to the agreement, said “the project will pave the way for faster travel and is envisioned to further spark economic growth and productivity not only in Cebu but in the entire Region 7.” Other signatories include MPIC president Jose Ma. K. Lim, Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy (seated, 2nd and 3rd from right) and Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama (not in photo). The toll bridge will be located approximately 7.5 kilometers south of the Mactan-Mandaue Bridge and will rise from the Cebu South Coastal Road traversing the Mactan Channel to Mactan Island.
