The Manila North Tollways Corp. (MNTC), builder and concessionaire of the NLEX, is expected to complete its P141.7-million heavy maintenance works involving asphalt overlay of 30 lane kilometers and road patching of 20 lane kilometers of the expressway on May 30.
MNTC president and CEO Rodrigo E. Franco explained heavy maintenance project is done every year in order to maintain the high quality of NLEX and to continue to improve the quality of service.
“In NLEX, we do not wait until serious damage takes place. We want to ensure seamless travel that is why we regularly do the necessary repairs and maintenance,” Franco said.
The project which began in October 2014 and will end in May in this year, focuses on asphalt overlay of 15 kilometers San Fernando to Angeles northbound, and road patching of five kilometers Mexico to San Fernando southbound and five kilometers Bocaue to Sta. Rita northbound.
Despite ongoing maintenance works, motorists are assured of smooth traffic flow as MNTC implements a traffic management plan which includes the closure of only one lane at any given time.
Asphalt overlay is undertaken from Mondays to Fridays, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., while patching works run from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
